Happy Monday! Another week is upon us and I have to say, I am pretty pumped for this week. I’m really looking forward to this weekend because I’m going home to help my mom find a dress to wear to the wedding. She has been shopping and found a couple dresses she likes but wants to get my opinion. My mom, sister and I are the kind of shoppers who don’t shy away from an opinion (and that’s true for things other than shopping) and can tell immediately if we like something once it’s on.
In the spirit of shopping for the wedding, I’m motivated to eat extra healthy this week. It’s my Motivation Monday.
The whole point of this blog is to document my journey from flab to fab for my upcoming wedding! It’s time to kick it up a notch!
This week I am going to track my calories, via the blog and some online tools, work out hard and eat more fruits and veggies! That’s my goal.
The motivation: DRESS! DRESS! DRESS!
No, this isn’t my dress, but you get the point! I want to look hot, hottie, hot and this week, my dress is serving as motivation!
What’s your motivation for working out and eating healthy?
It’s still Monday and after a long weekend of wine drinking and eating everything in sight, this week’s Motivation Monday surrounds my longing to bring back yoga into my life.
Before I started training for the Chicago Women’s Half Marathon, I would do yoga at least once a week. Yoga is great for stretching out my muscles and I should have been practicing while training! It’s hard to keep up with some other practice when you’re running hours at a time.
I started doing some Google-ing on the benefits of yoga and how yoga and running should work together. I found out some interesting things!
- According to Dr. Oz, yoga helps clean blood of waste and trains us to loosen our muscles we ignore in our normal days.
- Yoga helps de clutter your mind. < This is why I need yoga!
- Increases flexibility. < I could barely touch my toes in high school…now I can! If your muscles aren’t flexible, you are more likely to get fatigued earlier in your run.
- Your digestive track gets regulated through yoga.
I know these aren’t ground-breaking discoveries, but it’s always helpful for me to research as motivation.
My motivation for doing yoga this week is to de clutter my mind and regulate my digestive track! I have a lot weighing on my mind as of late and I really need to relax! If you’re interested in yoga, you can go to classes at your local gym, your local Lululemon store (it’s free!), local studios or a DVD in your living room.
This week, I plan on doing a class at my gym and the Body by Bethenny DVD.
How do you like to do yoga?
Today’s edition of Motivation Monday is around career/work.
In case you don’t remember, I started a new job in information technology sales. I’ve always wanted to try sales because I’m outgoing, love to solve problems and love talking to people.
What I don’t love about sales (at least now) is the prospecting/cold calling, learning all about IT, the stress, the unpredictable income.
I’m still in the newbie phase and can’t say if I love it or hate it, but I have found that I have to be passionate about what I’m doing.
Here are my career motivators:
- respect (I have to work for a company and a boss that respects me and whom I respect)
- challenging work
- ability for growth
- work/life balance
These are my main motivators. I don’t think your first (or second) job right after college will provide all of these motivators, but I would love to find a job/career that will combine all of these aspects!!
WHAT MOTIVATES YOU IN YOUR CAREER?
Well, it’s not exactly Monday, but I still wanted to write a motivational post. This week I’m motivated by Skinny Taste. I seriously love this web site! She has the best recipes around that I just adore. Literally every single recipe that I have tried from her web site is delicious!
Tonight (Tuesday) I’m making the enchiladas from her site! I’ve made these before, so I’m pumped!
It’s Monday!! That means it’s time to discuss some motivation. (Talk about motivation – a Kourtney Kardashian bikini picture).
I really like Kourtney Kardashian. I’m not a huge fan of the family, but if their show is on, I might watch. She is sweet and a devoted mom. She seems to be the one I identify with the most. Although, I do love Khloe. Her sense of humor is spot on. I also like Kourtney because she is short but has a bangin’ bod that makes her look so tall. I wouldn’t mind looking like her!
My motivation this Monday surrounds arms. In pictures from this weekend, I noticed that my arms need some work. While they are strong, I would like them to be smaller. So, here’s some motivation to get sexy, skinny arms! I’m going to incorporate most of these moves into my work outs this week!
How do you get sexy arms?
I mentioned yesterday that I’m going to start daily columns and….drum roll please….it’s time to start!
Here’s to the very first: Motivation Monday!
What’s motivating me today?
We decided back in January where we’ll be going for our honeymoon. Do you have any guesses?
WE’RE GOING TO ARUBA!!
I am so excited to go to Aruba and lay out at that pool in the photo above. We will be staying at the Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort on Eagle Beach in Aruba.
The resort has a live camera where you can go and see what’s going on in Aruba! The breeze, the palm trees and the beach chairs get me every time. It serves as a great break when work gets crazy and serves as great motivation to get bikini ready. I want to be sexy when I’m sitting on that beach and not feeling like a beached whale.
These photos are motivating me today. So much so that I actually did some pilates on my rest day!
These bikini bodies are also serving as some motivation!
How’s that for motivation? I know I’ll be having salad tonight…maybe 1 piece of pizza?
What’s motivating you this Monday?
