Sunday Funday?

Hello Again.  How’s your Monday going?  Mine is going swim-ingly.  Is that a word?  Not sure.

Any way, let’s jump into what happened yesterday.

BREAKFAST – The day started like many normal Sundays: coffee and peanut butter whole wheat toast.

IMG_1107

And in the spirit of my Motivation Monday here are the calorie break downs:

2 pieces of Brownberry 100% Whole Wheat bread – 220 calories, 40 g of carbs, 6 g fiber, 10 g protein
2 tbsp Jif creamy peanut butter – 190 calories, 8 g of carbs, 2 g fiber, 7 g protein

Breakfast Total – 410 calories, 48 g carbs, 8 g fiber, 17 g protein

I went to the gym around noon and ran 1.5 miles and then stretched for 20 minutes.  Those 20 minutes of stretching is exactly what the doctor ordered.  I’ve been fairly sore lately and I can tell my body is extremely tired.  I need to take a break so I’m ready for my half in 2 weeks.  I have learned that I need to listen to my body and that’s the most important thing.  What’s good for me isn’t necessarily good for others.

Then, the man and I went to the grocery store for some delicious eats!!

SNACK – I ate an amazingly delicious Luna chocolate dipped coconut bar.  It’s seriously one of my favorites.

IMG_1120

Snack Total – 190 calories, 25 g carbs, 3 g fiber, 9 g protein

I then read some blogs, Reality Tea anyone, and sipped on a Corona.

IMG_1122

Corona Total – 155 calories, 15.5 g carbs, 0 g fiber, 0 g protein (including 1 lime serving)

And then when it came time for dinner, all we wanted was guacamole.

IMG_1123

This definitely hit the spot.  And this is literally all I ate for dinner.  I ate my body weight in chips and guac, which is just the way I like it!  I’m going to roughly calculate the calories in the guac and chips, but I didn’t count my servings.  It’s an educated guess.

2.5 servings of homemade guacamole (based on these nutrition facts) – 375 calories, 20 g carbs, 15 g fiber, 5 g protein
4 servings of Tostitos Original Restaurant Style chips (1 serving = 7 chips) – 560 calories, 114 g carbs, 4 g fiber, 8 g protein

DINNER TOTAL – 935 calories, 134 g carbs, 19 g fiber, 13 g protein

This was absolutely crazy!  Who knew there were so many calories in tortilla chips?  I guess I should stop eating these!

THE GRAND TOTAL – 1,690 calories, 222.5 g carbs, 30 g fiber, 39 g protein

Based on this, the calorie number isn’t bad, but I definitely didn’t get enough calories from whole foods.  But, for a Sunday great day that doesn’t include the calories I “burned,” which is probably about 100, I consider it a delicious day.

Was your Sunday fun?  I think a Sunday Funday includes consuming alcohol on Sunday.  So, I indulged in a Corona, so it’s a Funday!!

Weekend Recap

I would have assumed that a nice weekend at home would be pretty relaxing.  Boy was I wrong!

Even though we were home (ie in Michigan), we were pretty much go, go, go all weekend.  Let’s recap the weekend:

FRIDAY –

IMG_0976

Breakfast was 2 pieces of toast, 1 banana and chia seeds, with a side of hazelnut coffee.  {I just love my Chicago mug!}

Snacks included some Cheez-It’s and an apple.

IMG_0977 IMG_0980

There’s nothing like a lunchtime work out!  I did a quick 3 mile run at a 10:30 pace.  It was nice to actually do something active during the day.  It kept my spirit up for the rest of the afternoon.

IMG_0979

And dinner was enjoyed on the balcony with a bottle of Chianti.  Oh so good!!  Dinner included: shrimp sauteed in olive oil, salt, pepper, red pepper flakes and orzo with basil, cherry tomatoes and parmesan cheese.  I also enjoyed a side salad of arugula/spinach blend and ranch dressing.  For dessert, a super old chocolate covered Oreo.  It was a great dinner with great conversation!

SATURDAY – The weekend began bright and early as we had to complete the natural family planning portion of our marriage prep.  It was pretty awful and I’ll write a whole recap on marriage prep in the Catholic church for those who are interested.

We ran to get some coffee before our day.  I ordered a cappuccino, which was perfect!!

IMG_0986

After our meeting, we definitely needed some alcohol.  So, off to Buddy’s Pizza we went and enjoyed some Stella, a side salad and pizza with pepperoni and green peppers.  It was perfect!

IMG_0988 IMG_0989 IMG_0990

After lunch, we ran some errands and even finalized our tux rentals for the wedding!!  It was unexpected but really necessary.  It feels so good to have that checked off the list!

We came home and I snacked on some cantaloupe.  Then, we watched This is 40 on demand, which was actually a good movie.  I drank a glass of Chianti and ate popcorn for dinner!  It was the perfect Saturday night spent snuggling on the couch and drinking vino.

IMG_0992 IMG_0993 IMG_0995

SUNDAY – On the agenda, a run!  It was incredibly hot, like 80 degrees hot.  I wasn’t really looking forward to running in that hot heat, but I ran with 2 co-workers, which made it fun.  We completed 6 miles {we started wanting to do 9, but it was just too hot} and I’m not even going to tell you the time.  It wasn’t good.  TOO HOT!

I ate 2 pieces of toast with peanut butter and the remaining Cheez-It’s before the run, drank an entire Gatorade on the run and then starved for a few hours.

After my run, we ran to Macy’s to start our registry.  It was so much fun!  And we actually agreed on everything.  It was a nice surprise.  I’ll also be recapping our registry experiences.

Then, we went to Chipotle – I had 3 chicken tacos with chicken, lettuce, guac and cheese.  Of course, chips and guac were consumed.

I’m pretty exhausted just writing this post.   All in all, I’m pretty pleased with the way this weekend turned out – from all angles: food, exercise and quality time spent with the man!

HOW WAS YOUR WEEKEND?

Back to the Grind

Monday, yesterday, was a crazy day.  It was nice to catch up on everything and feel like I was contributing to the work force.  Do you have days when you look at the clock, realize it’s 5 and think, “What did I accomplish today?”  I hate those days!  Luckily, yesterday was a day where I could look at my to-do list and see that I really did cross off a lot of things!  #yay #productive

BREAKFAST – Yesterday morning’s breakfast was another bad one.  I just had some coffee and some fruit.  It wasn’t very good, but I haven’t been hungry in the morning lately.  Do any of you have similar situations?  What do you do?

LUNCH – Lunch was a delicious one!  Of course, it started at Whole Foods!  I had a salmon avocado roll made with brown rice.  Then I had one of the most amazing brownies I’ve ever eaten in my life.  It was definitely worth it to have the brownie.  My 8 mile run from Saturday is still burning calories, right?

It was a rest day, which you know I’m always glad to have!  This meant that the man and I had the chance to go to the grocery store.  We were super low on food, like literally, we had an onion.  So we loaded up our fridge and pantry with the fixings for the Skinny Enchiladas, some orzo and a the fixins’ for baked ziti, which I’ll share later!

DINNER – Dinner came together quickly in the form of frozen pizza and green beans.

And then for dessert, a glass of white wine while watching the season finale of Revenge! Do you watch this show?!  The finale was amazing!!

IMG_0993

(I tried super hard to capture the Revenge logo in this picture…I failed).

All in all, I’m pretty pleased with my eats yesterday, outside the pizza.  We are really trying to cut back on eating those and we’ve done a really good job lately – convenience definitely trumped anything healthy yesterday.  How was your Monday?

Crazy Weekend!!

Hi There, All!!

I know I’ve been silent for a few days – I was in S.C. for my sister’s college graduation.  I can’t believe she graduated!  It seems like yesterday I was giving her my stuffed animal, Bebe, the day she was born.

Here’s a brief recap of our weekend: we ate, ate, ate, ate…and then ate some more!

Our flight left at 10 am, so our first stop was to get coffee and breakfast.  I ordered a green tea and a banana chocolate muffin.  No, I didn’t eat the whole thing, and yes, I am re-reading The Great Gatsby in preparation for the movie!!
IMG_0958

IMG_0959

I have to say that I forgot a lot of what happens in the book and am quite pleased with how it’s progressing.  Ahhh, high school!

Now, there will be a lot of pictures and not a lot of words!

We had to stop at Chick-Fil-A!  Then on Thursday night, we went to a place called The Smokin Pig, which was delicious! I don’t love BBQ sauce and BBQ sauce doesn’t love me, so I ordered some chicken and fried corn!  That fried corn was delicious.  I also had the majority of my mom’s banana pudding.  I highly recommend anyone who visits South Carolina (mostly Clemson) to visit this place!

IMG_0961 IMG_0965

Then it was time for graduation!  Here we are with the graduate!  Note: my sister is not that tall, she’s wearing huge wedges and I am wearing flats!

IMG_0967 IMG_0975 IMG_0977

That night we had a cookout at the lake house my parents rented.  We dined on yummy cheeseburgers, fruit salad and a caprese pasta salad.  Dessert was definitely consumed in the form of cake and my grandma’s cookies!  Why are cookies made by your grandma so much better than the ones you make?

IMG_0978

EXERCISE – I did exercise!!  It helps when your dad is really into running, too.  So Saturday morning, we made our way to Clemson’s campus to run 8 miles for me and 5 miles for him.  I didn’t know Clemson was so hilly.  Literally I either ran up or ran down…I completed the 8 miles at a 12 minute pace, but uphill.  I was a sweaty mess!

IMG_0980

But then it was time for ice cream with Grandma!

IMG_0981

All in all, this weekend was wonderful and it was great to disconnect from the “real world” and spend time with family.  A huge congrats to my lovely sister for her big accomplishment.  She is definitely the smartest member of the family and will do great things in life and the business world!

Seis de Mayo

Seeing as the man and I drove through Cinco de Mayo celebrations, we decided to celebrate Seis de Mayo….6th of May, which is also my dad’s birthday!! Happy Birthday, Dad!

Let’s dig into yesterday, shall we?

BREAKFAST –  How horrible is this?  I didn’t eat breakfast yesterday?!?! I brought a Chobani Greek yogurt, but it just didn’t sound good.  And by the time I looked at the clock, it was already 11, so I just ate lunch.  I know it’s never a good idea to skip breakfast andI can’t believe I did, but live and learn.

LUNCH – It was gorgeous yesterday, so I went wtih some co-workers to Whole Foods (where else) to grab some grub and eat outside!  I swear I took a picture of my lunch, but apparently it was only for Snapchat, not with my actual camera.  (Are you guys using Snapchat?  It is actually really fun!  I highly recommend it.  You basically add your friends and then take a picture with a caption and send.  It’s super fast and the picture has a time alloted for the other person to view your picture.  It’s pretty cool).

At Whole Foods, I grabbed their 2 for $6 lunch options.  One was a smoked mozzarella pasta salad and the other was a salad with feta cheese and almonds.  It was so good.  I also grabbed an Arnold Palmer.  I love sitting outside.  It is the best!

No exercise last night, it was a rest day.  And since a rest day was scheduled, why go against that? 🙂

DINNER – TACOS!!!  Yes, real tacos, not turkos.  We went all out for our Seis de Mayo – I made homemade guacamole and I had a taco salad with lettuce, guac, sour cream and cheese.  Oh so delicious!  No margaritas were consumed, but I’m okay with that.  I think my body needs to detox from the weekend.

20130507-101924.jpg

We consumed our dinner at the table while watching Revenge.  Are you watching this season?  It started off a little slow, I mean how can you beat season 1, but it’s redeemed itself!  I love it!!

What’s your favorite show this season?

Weekend Recap

Holy Crazy Weekend!  How was your weekend?

We traveled to southern Indiana for a friend’s wedding, which was a total blast!!  We drove to my parent’s house on Friday night to break up the drive and then headed to the ceremony.

It’s always wonderful to see 2 friends join together and look so incredibly happy.  I won’t be sharing too many pictures because I don’t feel comfortable sharing photos of friends (without their permission).

But, here’s to the happy couple!!

IMG_0910

With such a busy weekend, I didn’t take too many pictures of what I ate – so I think I’ll just skip this weekend.  It was filled with candy, bagels, muffins and lots of wine and dancing!!

I don’t feel bad about everything I ate because I cut a rug, so much sweat involved.  To me, that’s always the sign of a fun wedding, how much dancing there is.  This one was an absolute blast!

I love a fun weekend and I’m so excited for the happy couple.

Today was back to reality and back to healthy eating.  Be sure to check back later!!

New Idea: Daily Columns

Hi All.  I haven’t been writing this blog for very long but I’ve been thinking for a while that I’d like to post twice daily: once with my meals and exercise and once on a topic of interest to me.

I want to use my blog as a way to track/record my road to getting fit and fabulous for my wedding day, as well as a place for healthy living inspiration, wedding discussions and what it’s like to be a young women in corporate America/a sales world dominated by men!  Run4Vino is the balance between health, life and work.

Let’s jump into a new idea.  I want to blog twice a day: once recapping my daily exercise & eats and then once with a post surrounding topics of interest to me: weddings, fashion, work/life balance and healthy living in general.

To make things consistent, I thought it’d be fun to have a daily topic focus – or Daily Columns.
